Frequently Asked Questions about the Web and Printed Department Directories

  1. My listing on the Web or in the printed directory is wrong. How can it be corrected?

    Complete the "Department Directory Information" form available in the PA Department Administrative Office, room 4208 of the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building.

  2. Can I email changes in my listing to someone instead of filling out a form?

    We prefer using a paper form because it serves as a reminder of all of the items that are in the directory. If you email us that you have moved and give us just the new address and no new zip code we will not change your zip code. If you simply forgot to provide us with the new zip code then your listing will be incorrect. Also, because the University does not have a campus wide unified directory, many of the items included in person's listing must also be changed in the directories maintained by the University. This requires a different form and your signature.

  3. I cannot find a listing for a student that I think should be in the directory. Why aren't all students listed?

    Federal regulations govern student listings. Graduate students have the right to be "unlisted". Graduate students who wish to be "unlisted" should complete the "Department Directory Information" form available in the PA Department Administrative Office, room 4208 of the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building.

    Faculty may contact the PA Department Academic Office, room 1312 Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building, to find out whether a student has asked to be "unlisted".

    Undergraduate students are not listed in the directory due to federal regulations governing student records and information.

  4. Can I restrict the printing of my home address and phone number?

    Yes. Complete the "Department Directory Information" form available in the PA Department Administrative Office, room 4208 of the Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building.

  5. I tried to access the printable directories but received a login window. What do I do now?

    The printable directory is for PA Department internal use only. Therefore, access is restricted and requires that you log on using your departmental Windows domain username and password (the same as the new E-mail server uses, for those of you who are not primarily Windows users). For the "login name", you may have to use the format "PHY-AST\username" or "PHY-AST/username" instead of the username alone, depending on the browser and system you're using to try to access these pages. If you need to have your PHY-AST password updated after a period of dis-use, come to 1209 BPS or submit a ticket to the PA Helpdesk at http://helpdesk.pa.msu.edu/.
